If you have followed my latest publications, you know I’m using several apps for my routine productivity.

I use NotePlan 3 for my notes and day-to-day tasks. I’m using DEVONthink 3 to store and organize my documents.

I mix the famous PARA system with Johnny’s decimal approach to bring everything together and build my second brain.

As a refresher, my take on the PARA system is to organize your work by projects within areas.

For instance, when I wanted to write a Nature scientific article, I created a project note called “Writing Nature Article”. Since I’m using the Johnny decimal system, the project note becomes “10.31 — Writing Nature Article”. Numbers are easier to remember than words.

Creation of my note in NotePlan 3 using with a Johnny's decimal approach (10.31 -). I added this note in my area folder 07 PNV. Image by the author.

At a glance, I will have an idea of what project it is when I run into the numerical code “10.31” somewhere on my computer.
